In our current logo contest we have seen a wealth of talent from many people. Now the Core team of AskAIdiot! would like to officially invite entries in our logo contest. The logo contest is open to anyone in the USA over the age of 18 and will decide the Official Logo for AskAIdiot!. People with a great idea are encouraged to submit it regardless of their ability to render a final version.

The logo contest will run in the following format...

• Everyone is invited to submit logo design concepts for the AskAIdiot project.
• To enter a design it must be entered as a new thread in the Logo Competition Forum at http://forum.AskAIdiot.com.
• You must fill out complete information details when signing up for the forum so that we can contact you.
• You may add comments and thoughts to entry threads.
• Do not enter a design as a reply to an existing entry's thread.
• The AskAIdiot team will then consider all entries and vote on a group of five finalists.
• The community will then be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite logo design concept from the five finalists.
• We reserve the right to have the wining concept further developed by our creative team. Additionally this will allow us to formulate a style guide and versions specific to various media formats.
• The closing date for entries will be 23:59 GMT Sunday 31st of January 2010.
• To allow time for our staff to review all the entries, finalists to be announced and the community vote will commence on 23:59 Monday 1st March 2010. All forum members will be able to vote once for their favourite logo.
• Voting will close 23:59 GMT Monday 15th March 2010. The logo with the highest number of votes will become the official AskAIdiot! logo.
• The winner will be announced on the OSM forum and http://www.AskAIdiot.com at 23:59 Friday 19th March 2010.  The final prize ($100 US) will be-awarded (mailed out certified mail) within 10 days of competition end.
• We support the efforts of graphic designers and we honor them by allowing them a full page on the site that will depict the designers contact information, bio, efforts and references on our site.  The content of this page will be provided by the designer and will be reviewed and discussed so that the page meets the flow and final design of the AskAIdiot Project.  A small tag line will also be added to every page the logo is viewed on within our site.  "Logo design created by: xxxxxxxxx" which can be a direct hotlink to the designer's web page.  This link will appear on the site while it remains under the control of the original AskAIdiot.com project team.  If the link ceases to function, it will be removed.

Additional rules for people wishing to enter the AskAIdiot! logo contest...

• All submitted work must be original and not based on any pre-exisiting design.
• Contest is open to US citizens only. We support our country and our economy.
• You must have a valid postal mailing address within the 50 US states.
• If your entry produces trademark problems due to potential similarities to existing trademarks it will not be considered.
• By entering a logo design you agree to transfer the copyright, trademark, and property rights on the design to the AskAIdiot! project should your design win.
• Entries should not contain any text other than the words "Ask A Idiot.com!", "Ask A Idiot", "AskAIdiot.com", "You are an idiot!" and/or combo variations of the same.
• AskAIdiot.com is not responsible for other sites pirating your work.  If you wish to have your work remain your intellectual property during the contest it is up to you to find suitable watermarks that do not inhibit or distort the design in a mannor that will affect judging.

Some quick tips for begining designers to consider:

• Who's the logo/slogan for? Your group and the core dev environment vs the customer (End users who deploy your solution).
• Logo/slogan must convey purpose and spell out your message & be distinguishable (Kind of like your name).
• Must look good as tag line on web site for users.
• Must look good in different color spaces for screen & print(CMYK vs RGB).
• Must look good on a t-shirt (trade-shows and fundraising).
• Can be used as a favicon
• Must Scale up/down depending on use, since most of us use the core tech for other purpose and only drop a logo/copyright etc. at the bottom, it must scale small.

Thank you and good luck!
